The OS will run in this mode for up to 120 days (240 for Windows 2003).&nbsp;If you are prompted to activate your virtual machine, you can either extend the evaluation period as described below, or enter your own MSDN product key and activate the OS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BMC MSDN Accounts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>BMC MSDN Site<\/strong>:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.bmc.com\/it\/EndUserServices\/Pages\/MSDN.aspx\">https:\/\/intranet.bmc.com\/it\/EndUserServices\/Pages\/MSDN.aspx<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Microsoft&#8217;s MSDN Site:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/948472\">http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/948472<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Extending Evaluation Periods<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable auto activation and extend the evaluation period.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>First you should disable the automatic activation and notification setting. (<em>Flight Deck may have performed this already, it is OK to add these settings a second time)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Use the following registry settings and import to your system.&nbsp;Save the text below as <strong>wpa.reg<\/strong> in your VM, then double click the file to import these new settings.<\/li>\n<li>You should get a response the settings were imported.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\n<pre>Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00<\/pre>\n<pre>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\\Activation]<\/pre>\n<pre>\"NotificationDisabled\"=dword:00000001<\/pre>\n<pre>\"Manual\"=dword:00000001<\/pre>\n<pre>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\SL\\Activation]<\/pre>\n<pre>\"NotificationDisabled\"=dword:00000001<\/pre>\n<pre>\"Manual\"=dword:00000001<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><em>Manually Extend the evaluation period<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Start<\/strong>, and then click&nbsp;<strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type&nbsp;<strong>slmgr.vbs -dli<\/strong>, and then press ENTER to check the current status of your evaluation period.<\/li>\n<li>To reset the evaluation period, type&nbsp;<strong>slmgr.vbs -rearm<\/strong>, and then press ENTER.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>To check your grace period, type <strong>slmgr.vbs -dli<\/strong> again in a command prompt.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Entering a product key and activating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Entering a product key is done in the system properties of the operating system.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Obtain a product key from your MSDN Subscription, details can be found here on our <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.bmc.com\/it\/EndUserServices\/Pages\/MSDN.aspx\">corporate intranet<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Open Control Panel &gt; System<\/li>\n<li>On the bottom, click Enter Product Key and follow the prompts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The base Windows images do not contain a product key and will run in evaluation mode.
