The Status of an Event
The status of an event provides basic information about the event’s response activity. The cell assigns a status value to each event, and then you can change the status by performing event operations or other actions on the event. Also, the status of the event can be changed automatically by a rule.
The Event related functions
- Status – Includes OPEN, ACK, ASSIGNED, CLOSED, and BLACKOUT
- Severity – Includes CRITICAL, MAJOR, MINOR, WARNING, INFO, OK, and UNKNOWN
- Priority – Ranges from one to five, where one is a high priority
- History – Includes BLACKED_OUT, ASSIGNED/ASSIGNED TO/DEASSIGNED, OPERATOR/SUPERVISOR_CLOSED, TIMED_OUT, EVENT/CORRELATION/ABSTRACTION/ THRESHOLD_CLOSED, THRESHOLD, RECURRENCE, REOPENED, ACKNOWLEDGE, PRIORITY/SEVERITY_SET, and NOTIFICATION_REQUEST
- Permissions model – Both the CLIs and IX validate operation permissions through the BMC Portal (roles determine which users have access to which cells, collectors, and events)
What is the meaning of an event being with status=Blackout?
This means that operations on the Event have been suspended for a scheduled period.
How can I set the Event status to BLACKOUT?
This can be done through the remote actions. Highlight Event->Actions->Remote Actions->Modify Slot Value
- Slot Name: status
- New Value: BLACKOUT
- Press OK to confirm the changes.
Is there any relation between the event state=blackout and the service component status=blackout?
The service component status=blackout; means monitoring of the component is suspended for a scheduled period.
Sending an event; with status=blackout to impact CI will not affect the CI; but will show in:
IX->Services->Component->View Events->All
